Tails of Inspiration
Hero #1 - Our first featured hero is actually a heroin and is a horse named Sergeant Reckless. This amazing mare is a decorated United States Marine Staff Sergeant who contributed significantly during the Korean War. Born in 1948 in Korea, Sgt Reckless is a Mongolian packhorse that served in the U.S. Marines from 1952 to 1968.
She was given the battlefield rank of Staff Sergeant. She has been honored in many ways including by the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton with a plaque as well as at the National Museum of the Marine corps with a statue.

Hairy Hero Tails is written, edited, hosted and produced by Kim, a longtime animal lover and frequent animal rescuer. Born and raised in the Carolinas, Kim works by day in marketing and on Hairy Hero Tails in her spare time. Many beloved pets have enriched her life since childhood, and she is currently the proud Momma of 13-year old dachshund Shotzie, 6-year old french bulldog Hope, 10-year old mix Owen and 13-year old sphynx Ramses.
